The Mebane House was designed by Sophie Piesse, architect, for a great couple that wanted to downsize as they began retirement. Sophie designed the house to be compact, energy efficient and very low maintenance. The home has proper orientation, shading and thermal mass to take advantage of passive heating and cooling. The beautiful deep grind polished concrete floors have hydronic heat to make the whole house cozy in the winter without any forced air blowing around. This was a great project for wonderful folks. We thoroughly enjoyed our collaboration with Sophie. All photos by Iman Woods.
